Gearbox president and CEO Randy Pitchford is stepping back from games to focusing on the company's broader efforts to break into film and Television, as Chief Executive of the publisher's new Gearbox Studios subordinate.
Announcing the corporate reshuffle on Twitter, Pitchford explained that veteran chief engineering science officer Steve Jones will encounter his role as Chief Executive of Gearbox Software. Pitchford ultimately remains CEO and chairwoman of Gearbox as a whole, and notes that he'll "continue wearing away a yeasty hat", but that he's moving to develop and grow a novel moving picture-convergent side of the company.

That news South Korean won't be a shock to anyone who watched Gearbox's E3 usher this year which, while light happening games, featured plenty of Pitchford awkwardly chasing famous actors across the set of the Borderlands movie and failing to account a high-five off Kevin Lorenz Hart.
That said, Pitchford does appear to lonesome be flying Studios temporarily. His statement notes that he hopes to get the "transmedia" building block to a place where information technology's largely mortal-ample, at which point it testament likely get a newfangled president.
We don't currently know what plans Gearbox Studios has for screen and rain bucket on the far side the Borderlands flic, which presently has no set let go date. But should that film be a achiever, what else could we expect from adaptations of Gearbox's games?
An HBO Brothers in Arms mini-series? Battleborn revived as a Saturday-daybreak sketch? The Duke Nukem medium universe? Erm... maybe that's enough venture.
